Newborn Photography COVID Protocols

Newborn/Maternity Photographer in Northern Virginia

Welcome all current and potential clients! As a photography studio owner, my top priority is to capture beautiful moments for you and your loved ones while ensuring the safety and well-being of everyone involved. In fact the safety of you and your family hold just as much importance as capturing beautiful newborn and family photos for your family. With the ongoing COVID pandemic, COVID protocols for Newborn Photography have been a big topic of conversation. We have implemented strict protocols to protect our clients, including newborn babies and any vulnerable children and family members, from any potential exposure to the virus.

At our studio, we follow all the guidelines and recommendations set by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) to minimize the spread of COVID-19. We adhere to these protocols and have implemented the following COVID protocols for our Newborn Photography Studio because we take every precaution necessary to ensure the safety of our clients. Although recommendations have changed over he past few years as the risk and availability of vaccinations have changed, I still feel that when handling pregnant mothers and newborn and young babies it is my responsibility to operate from the side of caution.

COVID Protocols

When it comes to newborn photography, we understand how delicate and vulnerable these little babies are. Newborns have a developing immune system, and it’s crucial to take every measure possible to keep them safe and healthy in normal times. That’s why we have implemented specific protocols to protect your newborn baby and ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

Sanitizing

First and foremost, we make sure that our studio is clean and sanitized thoroughly before and after every session. We use hospital-grade disinfectants to clean all surfaces, props, and equipment. We also provide multiple bottles of hand sanitizer ( you can ever have too much hand sanitizer!) and ask that all clients and staff sanitize their hands before we stat any photography set-ups or poses. As photographers we washing our hands every time we touch other surfaces before we touch your child. This practice has been something I have always made a priority but now i have found that this is even more important than ever.

Limit People in Studio

To further reduce the risk of transmission, we limit the number of people in the studio. We understand that family members want to be present during a newborn’s photoshoot, but we ask that only essential members attend the session. This is to minimize the number of people in close contact and reduce the risk of exposure to the virus.

Masking

During the photoshoot, we wear masks at all times, I know that many photographers have stopped his process but this is going to be my new normal. Even with-out COVID I believe that masks are he easiest way I can protect these precious newborns and I have decided to make this a permanent practice for me during newborn sessions. moving forward. We use camera lenses that allow us to capture intimate and beautiful shots while keeping a safe distance. During your session I will have to soothe and handle your baby so I want to protect your family as best as I can.

Scheduling

Additionally, we have adjusted our schedule to allow more time between sessions. We take this a step further and have tried to never schedule multiple sessions in one day. If we have to, we never schedule more than one newborn session and we schedule enough time to ensure that we have enough time to sanitize the studio and all equipment thoroughly. We strictly monitor the our team members heath ( such as hair and make-up artists or assistants) in relation to exposure and testing fo COVID and any illness. We stay in very close communication for this reason.

Client Transparency

When clients book a session with us we have a COVID protection agreement in each and every contract. Part of that agreement asks that they are fully transparent with us in the weeks leading up to their session about any fevers, coughs, or exposures that anyone in the household has had. We reserve the right to postpone a session at any time if we feel that someone is showing symptoms before or during a session but we encourage and open line of communication with clients to avoid having to postpone a session at the last minute.

Safety is Our Top Priority

We understand that these measures may seem excessive, but we believe that they are necessary to keep everyone safe and healthy. This is also just important for our other clients as well, in order to ensure a safe session for all of my clients I need to be able to feel confident hat my studio is a safe space for everyone, no matter their family and health situation. Your baby’s safety is our top priority, and we want to provide you with a stress-free and enjoyable experience.

I understand this more than most, as I have family members that were extremely vulnerable during the most dangerous period in he COVID-19 pandemic. In addition I am fully vaccinated and boosted in addition o the rest of my vaccinations. Although I respect this as a personal choice and feel that everyone has he right to make their own decisions for their own bodies, I chose to get the vaccine and continue to have a booster shot as offered in order to add that extra layer of safety for my self, my family and my clients.
