This adorable little newborn baby girl had her Newborn Photo Session with us in Sterling VA. She was such a sweet baby and made the session such a joy. She is her parents first child so they were more than excited to capture this special milestone or their family. The beloved family dog even came too!
We started this session just like I always do! Once mom and dad and baby get in and get settled I have mom give baby a full feeding session. This helps me so that the newborn baby has a nice full belly. This is key for any newborn photo session and helps assure I have a super sleepy baby for my session.
Because she was fast asleep when mom handed her over to me I began with froggy pose which is my fave but one of the hardest poses to do. This pose requires a second set of hands and is taken in two parts also known as a composite. These photos require taking different shots and meshing them together while editing to assure the baby is safe and secure the whole time. My assistant held her head and then her arms while it took my two composite shots. Can you tell in the final image?
We continued this Sterling, VA newborn photo session with the other table shots. I kept the floral backdrop and added a wrap to do the huck finn pose on her back and took many different angles of her adorably wrapped up with her hands on her chest. I ended the table poses with head on hands on a pink waffle knit backdrop. Adding different headbands and bonnets and sleepy caps help me get the most variety I can out of these poses for mom and dad.
After those I wrapped her up and began the pop poses which are so much fun! They are all done swaddled so that I can easily move the baby rom prop to prop without waking them up. I began with a bucket pose with a fun girly pink bucket huger to add some personality. I LOVE these bucket huggers because they can make one prop and transform it into many variations just by adding these magnetized printed huggers on the front, changing the look so easily! We did shots in a trench bowl and a cute wooden moon bowl. At the end I added a little knit bear in her hands which made mom and dad swoon!
After the Newborn poses we were ready for the parent and family poses for this Sterling, VA newborn photo session. I always have parents wear black, white or neutrals so that we can keep the focus of the images on the emotion and beauty of what I am capturing. The mom and baby images were taken in a white outfit and wrap. I had mom hold her daughter close to her face so that we could see the connection between them. It is so special to see the love of a mother, it is something that cant be described by words. For dads shots I had him standing in a masculine standing pose holding his daughter in his hands. It really shows how itty bitty these newborns are and creates a vision of how safe they are in their daddy’s hands. It is very important to me to have both mom and dad have individual shots taken with their baby.
Last on the list was the family photos! We took images with the parent together an even added the sweet little puppo too! I hope that the love that surrounds this family is shown through their portraits and that they cherish these photos forever!
